Happy New Year.

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and are now refreshed and looking forward to the New Year. We are planning a couple of social events for the estate again this year, an Easter Egg Trail on Good Friday and a Summer Event for the 4th July, both will be invitation only. Watch this space for further details.
Other events for 2009 include the Red Cross Open Gardens in April and October and the MacMillan Cricket event in July. This year we hope to run the open garden days ourselves with the help of estate volunteers. If you would like to help, please get in touch.

Despite the gloom and doom in the press, I am hopeful that Blagdon is in good shape to welcome the New Year with confidence, while times may be difficult at least we are all living in a beautiful environment in a strong community environment. Lets greet the challenges ahead with a smile and enjoy what we have.

The floods in September created havoc in the area including my own house. Thankfully all is now repaired and we have returned home. Unfortunately many people in Morpeth are not so fortunate and are still out of their homes, our thoughts go out to them. Last year was particularly wet, hopefully we can look forward to better weather this year.

Please e mail me if you have any comments to make on the website, this newsletter or any other aspect of Blagdon Estate, I am always happy to have feedback.

Shotton Surface Mine

Work has started at Shotton as many of you will have seen. The planning for the land form sculpture, "Northumberlandia" is ongoing and we are in discussion with various interested parties. This is an exciting opportunity to provide an interesting landmark for the area and we will try and keep everyone informed of progress.
