| Estate Office Changes. | ||
| Ann Daly has decided to retire to enjoy time with Eric, we wish them all the best and a long an happy retirement with their enormous brood of Grand children! | ||
| We welcome Ann's replacement to the Estate Office, Andrea Bradford. I am sure that Andrea will quickly fit in at and look forward to many happy years as part of Team Blagdon. I am sure that you will all get to meet Andrea in the coming weeks and will show her what a special place she has joined. | ||
| Estate Events. | ||
| The Blagdon Summer Event this year has been set for 10th July.
Invitations have been sent out and the format is going to be similar to
previous years. If you have not returned your invitation or need further
information please contact the estate office. This year the bank Group
who operate the surface mine at Shotton have kindly agreed to sponsor
the band for the evenings entertainment. John Nicholson Plumbing and
Heating are sponsoring the bouncy castle, J W peters are sponsoring the
Children's entertainer, and John Kelly Roofing are sponsoring the main
stage. Greens Agriculture are providing prizes for the quiz and a big
thank you goes to all of them for generously sponsoring this event. If you have any suggestions or wish to help with future events, please contact me directly. |

| Garden Competition. | ||
| The estate gardens competition which is normally held every 2 years is due to be judged on Wednesday 7th July, this year we have 15 entrants. I am sure that there are many more people who could enter and I would encourage you all to consider entering next time. The competition is not only for serious gardeners, we would like everyone to enter and all gardens are judged on the effort put into each garden rather than on any horticultural excellence. So come on you are all part of the estate and all play a part in the unique place where we live, enter next time for the chance to win a substantial cash prize or a coveted winners bronze plaque. | ||
| Lord Ridley is 85 at the end of the month and this milestone will be marked with several celebratory events. I am sure you will all join with me to wish Lord Ridley many happy returns! | ||
| Alnwick Hospice Care, Open Gardens Sunday 1st August. | ||
| This is the first time the Hospice care have come to Blagdon for a garden opening. Please support this worthy cause by coming along on the day, full details are on our events page. | ||
| Northumberlandia. | ||
| Northumberlandia is shaping up to be a major project
produced by Banks and Blagdon for the benefit of the
region. We are very excited about the potential that this
project promises and we are sure that we will all be very
proud when the park is opened to the public, which is
scheduled for Summer 2013.Work has now commenced on site, initially with
the construction of the car park, soil stripping is due to commence once
access has been formed from the Shotton Site. There is an advisory
committee comprising of representatives from interested parties, who are
meeting to discuss how to promote and develop Northumberlandia for the
future, should anyone have any views I am happy to bring them to the
attention of the advisory group, and design team. If you have any thoughts or suggestions about Northumberlandia, please speak to me and I will pass your comments to the design team. |
