Blagdon Estate
Rural Enterprise Management

Environment

Much of Shotton is land badly restored after National Coal Board opencast coal mining in the 1960s. This proposal offers the chance of much better restoration. Thousands of trees will be planted and several wetlands created. Biodiversity will be enhanced by the scheme, as shown by other recent restorations on the estate. All public footpaths across the site will be restored, and several miles of new permitted public paths will be created, creating  much enhanced public access.
